Goulled’s Story
Goulled is a recent IT graduate from a mid range London University, who was not having much success starting his IT career. He had 2 years experience in a customer service role at PC World, where he also helped out repairing PCs and laptops but he still struggled to get employers to notice him. He had not had any interviews or calls from employers, and then he came to Just IT.
After one session with Just IT, where we shared some of our secret Job searching techniques and worked on his CV, Goulled started to get calls from Recruiters and employers about IT opportunities; at least 2 calls a day! In less than 2 weeks he had secured an interview with an International Investment Bank as a Service Desk Analyst.
In preparation for his interview, he received a mock interview with his personal Career Support Consultant based on the job specification he was given. This meant that he was fully equipped for the interview after going through a series of typical interview questions, learning how to structure his answers and what sort of questions he needed to ask at the interview to make himself stand out from his competition meaning he felt confident and prepared as he made his way to the interview.
Following the interview Goulled felt certain that he had given a good interview and awaited the result. After a few days he had not heard anything from the company and his Career Support Consultant advised him to call the company instead of waiting for a response. He made the call and eventually got the bad news; they felt he gave a good interview but he was not successful at this time.
He understandably felt disappointed about the result and was a little demotivated but his Career Support Consultant assured him that he was a good candidate and would have a job soon.
Within 3 weeks Goulled had had 3 more interviews and was successfully offered a permanent role as an IT Engineer, however after just one week more he was offered another permanent role that was a paying higher salary and based closer to his home.
Goulled is now enjoying his new job; working hard, enjoying learning and finally on the first steps of his IT career.
