My name is Natasha Downes and I am a Recruitment Manager at Just IT Recruitment. I am responsible for running a team of consultants who support the candidates from the Network Professional Programme into jobs in the Technical and Network support sector.

Every month at Just IT we have a new full time course that start with around 14 candidates eager to kick start their IT career. Last Monday was no exception. We had 16 candidates, all with strong communication skills keen to start learning more about networking and technical support. Whilst most do not have any commercial IT experience, they can each talk passionately about why they love IT – normally this enthusiasm comes from their experience at tinkering around with their own PCs at home or through their education.

Naturally the candidates all have different personalities but most have similar backgrounds; solid customer service experience within retail or office based environments was a common strength of most and a great transferable skills that our clients look for! Some were clearly more confident than others when it came to presenting themselves and their strengths but this is not really a problem as all candidates who come through the training receive 1-1 career support that will help them focus on developing their areas of weakness!

As long as they apply themselves to the technical training and the career support they receive at Just IT, and work hard then there IT career will be just around the corner!
