With the large number of graduates coming out of university each year it is still very difficult to get on the IT ladder. This is demonstrated every day, by the candidates who come to Just IT for advice. This news article is from Emma Crane who is the manager of a team of consultants who help graduates into the technical support/networking industry through our Network Professional Programme. This is her experience;
“After speaking to literally hundreds of graduates every year we find the main stumbling block for them is standing out from the crowd and having something different to offer employers from their competition.
After many discussions with employers we have found ways to overcome these barriers by training graduates through industry recognized qualifications which are relevant to the job role they are going for and this coupling this with a work placement that gives graduates invaluable skills which are desired by employers.
Aiden Carhill did our course last year with a 1st in a Networking degree with excellent communication skills but was still facing a barrier when it came to the competition. After passing an interview with one of our recruitment consultants Aiden started our Network Professional Programme and we successfully placed him in a great support role with a large legal firm after just 6 weeks of training. He also took advantage of the Pay as You Earn programme which allows people to take advantage of Just IT without paying the full fees up front. It was reassuring to Aiden to know that if did not get a job he would not pay the rest of the fees.
Aiden has joined nearly 2000 graduates that we have helped place into support roles over the past 9 years. Good people are just not getting the opportunities that they deserve because of the general nature of most degrees and the fact that they have a lack of commercial IT experience. Just IT Training and Just IT Recruitment help to overcome these barriers”
So if you have the passion and desire to work within the technical support sector and you have good communication skills we would like to hear from you.
