Government incentives help SME’s take on Apprentices

With the government sticking to their target of 3 million apprenticeship starts by 2020, the focus is now shifting towards SME’s.

The government have recently allocated £650 million to encourage SME’s to fill their skills gaps with young talent, and regard apprenticeships as the perfect vehicle to achieve this.

Just IT and Skills Team have been given direct government funding to provide IT and digital apprentices to SMEs. This means that 100% of apprenticeship training costs will now be covered by government funding for businesses with under 50 employees, and 90% of training costs will be covered for businesses with over 50 employees.

Regardless of your industry, these apprentices can help to grow your business and solve recruitment challenges, whilst injecting fresh creativity and enthusiasm into the workplace.

There is also an additional £1000 incentive for any business which chooses an apprentice aged between 16-18, putting the focus on providing young people with alternative paths to employment.
