What is IT support?

IT Support is the lifeline of most businesses and if you’re an avid problem solver and a lover of tech then this is the pathway for you. We offer two apprenticeships in this area – Level 3 Information Communications Technician and Level 4 Network Engineer.

Whether you see yourself making it in a small start-up or large corporate company – we will have the right employer for you, and you will earn a real wage whilst you learn. An Apprenticeship will show you everything need to know about the industry with well-respected qualifications gained at the end of the programme.

IT Support & Networking qualifications

The Level 3 Information Communications Technician has a typical duration of 14-17 months.

Level 3 Information Communications Technician

  • Workshop 1: Communication & Business Process
  • Workshop 2: IT Essentials
  • Workshop 3: Network Essentials & Troubleshooting
  • Workshop 4: Cloud Services & Maintaining Systems
  • Workshop 5: Networking and Cyber Security
  • Workshop 6: Coding and Scripting

Level 4 Network Engineer

The Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship has a typical duration of 20 months.

  • Network Security.

Where apprenticeships can lead

The average salary in IT Support is £32,500 (Total Jobs)

Typical Job roles after this apprenticeship include; Help Desk Technician, First or Second Line Support, IT Infrastructure Technician, Technical Support Engineer.

The average salary for a Network Engineer is £55,000 (Total Jobs)

Typical job roles after this apprenticeship include; Network Technician, Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Administrator.

Entry Requirements

You’ll be a natural problem solver with an eye for detail. The best candidates will enjoy solving issues and supporting different stakeholders with strong communication skills to find a solution in a variety of different situations.

Individual employers will set the selection criteria, but this might include 5 GCSEs and/or A Levels, a Level 2 apprenticeship; or other relevant qualifications and experience; or an aptitude test with a focus on functional maths.

For Level 4 apprenticeships you’ll need Level 3 qualifications, including A levels, NVQ/SVQ Level 3, BTEC National or a Level 3 Apprenticeship. Level 2 English and Maths will need to be achieved, if not already, prior to taking the end point assessment.
