Business Development Manager

Position Overview    

The Business Development Manager will play a supporting role in driving the growth and success of Just IT by identifying new business opportunities across the group, growing key partnerships, and expanding our apprenticeship portfolio. This position requires a strong blend of business acumen, business development skills, and a deep understanding of the apprenticeship landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve the company’s growth objectives
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand on existing partnerships to expand Just IT’s reach and impact
  • Win new business- contracting with employers who are new to Just IT

Client Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention- growing accounts organically
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored apprenticeship solutions that align with their business goals, including new programmes to Just IT’s portfolio

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth market research to stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and key stakeholder feedback
  • Use data-driven insights to drive decision-making and refine the Just IT offerings and evolution of new products


  • Lead the development of compelling proposals and presentation pitches for potential new clients, showcasing the benefits of their apprenticeship programs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create solutions that meet the specific needs of clients (Bootcamps / commercial offerings)

Revenue Generation:

  • Set revenue targets and work towards achieving them through effective business development strategies and relationship building
  • Monitor and track performance metrics, providing regular reports to the Business Development Director (using CRM)

Leading a team (if required):

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the business development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Provide guidance and support in the execution of business development initiatives and KPI’s

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that all business development activities adhere to relevant regulations and quality standards (Contracting etc)
  • Oversee the compliance of apprenticeship with industry requirements and government guidelines (ESFA etc)

Essential Deliverables:

  • A well-defined and actionable business development strategy that outlines specific growth targets and key initiatives
  • A robust pipeline of potential clients and partnerships, including a list of leads and opportunities actively pursued
  • Successful negotiation and execution of strategic partnerships that enhance Just IT’s growth ambitions
  • Compelling proposals and presentations showcasing the value of any partnership
  • Consistent achievement of revenue targets and a track record of contributing to the company’s financial success
  • Strong client relationships with a high level of client satisfaction and retention
  • Regular market research reports and impact reporting from clients
  • An engaged and motivated business development team, achieving their individual and collective goals


Works as part of JIT Leadership team in delivering:

  • Just IT Company Vision and People Development Goals
  • Sales and Gross Profit in line with set budgets
  • Strategic & Operational objectives – including our new investment in pathways
  • Set up build a business development function and client strategies for wider sales
  • Joins Operational meetings
  • Involvement in Just IT Training projects as required
  • Delivers agreed ad-hoc projects as required
  • Prepares and runs training sessions as required by the company
  • Represents and cross sells all business area’s
  • The role and the team will have individual targets in creating measurable starts in Apprenticeship and Skills Bootcamps

  • Proven track record in a senior influencer position
