Just IT proudly took part in the Girls in Tech Insight Event hosted by Renault Group and Mobilize Financial Services, an insight day dedicated to inspiring and empowering the next generation of young women in technology.
Carina George, Account Director, and Leah Hardy, Marketing and Comms Lead set up a stand at the event to speak with the young women about Apprenticeship opportunities and how their current interests and studies can link into job roles. Throughout the day, students from local schools attended sessions focused on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, while also exploring interactive sessions and career advice opportunities.

“We had so many meaningful conversations; one key takeaway was how little students hear about apprenticeships. Questions like ‘What age can I start an apprenticeship?’, ‘Where do I look to find Apprenticeship opportunities?’ ‘How did you progress after your Apprenticeship?’ came up time and again.” – Leah Hardy, Marketing and Comms Lead at Just IT
A highlight of the day was the inspiring panel discussion featuring women working in tech, the session was chaired by Lorraine Dodd, IS/IT Director at Renault UK and the panel included:
- Kayla Kamugasha, IS Graduate, Renault UK
- Sunita Kaisi, Developer, Mobilize
- Nithya Reangarajan, Digital Product Lead, Renault UK
- Megan Lythgo, IS Graduate, Mobilize
- Carina George, Account Director, Just IT
Each speaker shared their personal journey into the tech industry and explained how tools like Miro, Figma, and API programming interfaces are shaping the future of digital work and worth exploring. Attendees were encouraged to explore free online resources like YouTube tutorials and research TikTok influencers who share tech skills and career advice. It was great from Kayla that she found our Data Skills Bootcamp Opportunity via a TikTok influencer talking about the programme.
Kayla Kamugasha shared, “I studied Law at university, but discovered a passion for tech through a Data Skills Bootcamp at Just IT, which made me realise I wanted to pursue a career in Tech as I had a big interest in web design.”
Nithya Reangarajan explained, “The rise of AI and digital transformation made me realise the real-world impact of tech. That’s what drew me in.”
Carina also explained all about Apprenticeships as an available route beyond GCSE’s, A-Levels or simply at any point in your career if you want to learn new skills. “There are so many apprenticeships out there, you may want to explore Digital Marketing, Software Development or Information Technology… there is something for everyone. I’ve been in the industry now for around 10 years and many of my previous apprentices are now my employed partners taking on Apprentices themselves, it’s great for progression and learning on the job.”
To encourage student participation, Renault used an interactive “Catchbox” microphone – an engaging way to field Q&A from the audience and hear from the curious and motivated young attendees.
The event closed on a powerful note: “Look around you—you might be sitting next to the next great innovator in tech. Learn from one another.”
