36% of employers do not understand BA roles
Only 36% of employers understand the role of Business Analysts well, according to a recent survey by IIBA UK. Despite being poorly-understood, Business Analysts play a critical role in supporting organisations to navigate change successfully. They identify which problems are the most important to address and ensure the chosen solution is a good fit and works for stakeholders.
The importance of Business Analysts
Just IT recently hosted a Business Analyst event, where a panel of experts from within the BA profession discussed pertinent challenges and opportunities.
The aim of the event was to better understand what other challenges Business Analysts face and prior to event we surveyed Business Analysts about a range of issues, including the demand for their services, the biggest challenges they face, and inevitably, Brexit.
Below is the presentation from our recent Business Analyst Breakfast event.
The survey results formed the catalyst for discussion with out diverse panel of talented Business Analysts, including Alex Rowe, Senior Business Analyst at Transport for London, Taegan Dumbrill, Business Analyst Apprentice at Schroders, Mark Lewing, Principal Business Analyst at Aviva and Chief Examiner for Business Analyst at BCS and Abi Kuku, Just IT’s Lead Business Analyst Coach & Trainer.
The panel spoke about how the industry has changed since they began (considerably more for some than others!), the solution methodologies their organisations used, how their profession is viewed in their industry and their views of the challenges Business Analysts face. We also spoke about our new Business Analyst apprenticeship, which combines expert training with the most sought-after qualifications in the sector to produce Business Analysts with an excellent understanding of industry best practice and standards.
