IT and Digital Skills Trainer

Position Overview    

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join us at Just IT as a digital skills trainer to provide expert teaching and learning across our AEB provision. We are looking for a talented, engaging, and focused individual to work within our successful team ensuring our candidates receive only the highest quality, effective teaching, and learning.

Responsibilities  

In common with all staff:

  • To support the JIT’s mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives

Role Responsibilities:

  • Delivering Digital and IT skills at level 2 to include safe and secure practises when working with IT devices, data and information, Cybersecurity, Digital Graphics, Computer Programming, Spreadsheets, Networks, IT Support, Digital Skills Project, and Presentation
  • As part of the curriculum you will review the skills developed and review the PDP ensuring learners leave equipped with a plan of next steps and overall goals
  • Identify learner’s strengths and weakness through an initial assessment and support them accordingly
  • The successful candidate will be flexible with their delivery methods and models of delivery and be able to adapt quickly to the learner’s needs. This is a fast paced course so ability to be flexible is paramount
  • The successful candidate must be engaging and able to demonstrate energy and passion to motivate/train learners to help them realise their potential
  • You will follow TLA plans but have the flair to make them your own, and deliver encouraging, nurturing, and motivating training
  • You will own and manage any learner progress issues in line with the business expectations
  • You will aim to maintain 100% retention and achievement of all learners and aid the internal referral process if learners experience any difficulties either work or pastoral related
  • liaison with Business development and learner co ordinater teams to manage the learner journey and aid progress opportunities for candidates

Learner Support:

  • You will ensure all learner feedback to our candidates is progressive and meets the quality team standards
  • To mentor, learners to achieve and learn professional skills required for the opportunity to progress either onto an apprenticeship, employment, or further learner
  • Work with individuals and or groups of learners who require additional support
  • Support learners to improve their everyday maths and English skills
  • Devise flexible and innovative ways to engage individual learners with support from colleagues
  • To provide quality careers/employability support and embedded information, advice, and guidance to learners
  • Implement strategies and support learners in self-esteem and confidence-building activities.
  • Drawing up agreed action plans with learners, outlining the aims of the
  • program, and monitoring their progress

Record keeping:

  • Ensure records of support provided are maintained and demonstrate individual distance travelled
  • Accurately record daily learner attendance and follow up and learner absence swiftly, liaising with the learner co-ordinate
  • The successful candidate will be required to engage with the Head of Traineeships to ensure information regarding learners’ progress is accurate and timely
  • You will be expected to maintain appropriate tracking systems and procedures relating to quality, compliance, management, and assessment

Communication and general administration:

  • Take responsibility for Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Data Protection, and Safeguarding
  • The post holder will also comply with all information and training supplied and discuss any concerns with their Line Manager
  • Attend and contribute to the regular whole staff and learning support team meetings

Standardisation of Practice (as required):

  • Work with colleagues to improve teaching, learning, and assessment
  • Where necessary contribute to the devising of processes and procedures to improve the overall quality and consistency of programs
  • Managing your professional development through undertaking relevant training and sharing best practices with other trainers

Other:

  • Support and promote the Company’s aims, and objectives
  • Understand and apply the Company’s relevant policies, procedures, and working practices
  • Carry out administrative duties associated with the role
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date course and learner records
  • Take part in company enrolment, induction, marketing, meetings, activities, as required
  • Provide learners with pastoral and academic support
  • Deal confidently with staff, learners, and other external customers demonstrating respect

Candidate Requirements  

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant industrial/commercial experience – Essential
  • Prior experience of delivering Digital/ ICT training – Essential
  • Experience of delivering Gateway qualifications – Desirable
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Digital/ ICT industry – Essential

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTLLS) – Essential
  • PGCE/Cert Ed – Desirable
  • Assessor Qualification – Desirable
  • Level 2 English and maths at minimum Grade C (or equivalent) – Essential
  • Health and Safety Qualification – Desirable
  • Recognised Level 3 qualification in IT and or Degree in relevant subject – Essential
  • IAG Level 2 Qualification – Desirable

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Up to date knowledge of current initiatives relating to the ICT industry – Essential
  • Experience of planning and delivering effectively – Essential
  • Strong organisation, time management, and administrative skills – Essential
  • Ability to meet set targets -Essential

Other requirements:

  • Demonstrate commitment to safeguarding and health and safety in the workplace
  • Commitment to the provision of a high-quality learning experience
  • Willingness and ability to work flexibly throughout the week at any site and/or employers’ premises
  • Full UK Driving License and have access to a car when required. This role may involve regional travel
